This species lives above the forested slopes on top of Queensland's highest mountain, where it basks on granite boulders.
Superficially similar to many of Tasmanias saxicoline skinks in the genus Niveoscincus, this species has a very long tail and is an
egg-layer. Like its Tasmanian relatives, it tolerates juveniles in the same area.
