M51 and NGC5195 in Canes Venatici

The famous 'Whirlpool Galaxy' and smaller NGC5195 to the north are a gravitationally interacting pair of galaxies, which causes the pronounced spiral arms of M51 and the sweeping tidal arms around its companion.
Both galaxies are about 23 Mill. Lyrs. away.
