This peculiar galaxy looks like a giant elliptic galaxy, superimpose by a dust band as it can be normally found in spiral galaxies. This appearance is probably due to a former collision with a smaller spiral galaxy, which also caused the generation of many new stars and a highly active super massive black hole in the center. Because of that, and being located only about 10-16 millions light-years away, makes it to closest examples of a radio galaxy.
