In typical fashion, OS stepped up and, after carefully modelling my particular system, engineered a clever baffling solution to compensate that attached the front of the primary baffle. Unfortunately, while eliminating all off axis stray light without introducing additional obstruction, it introduced flare / glare around stars because of the grazing incidence of the converging light cone from the primary on the baffle cone. At such a shallow incidence even a matte finish will appear reflective! (See next image.)
