Bush Fire Sunset

Junee NSW Australia

Here in New South Wales we are suffering the effects of some large bushfires in Victoria. The smoke from these fires has covered our whole area & can be seen in this photo as the haze. This image is actually a HDR (High Dynamic Range) Image. It is a combination of three images, each 1EV apart using the FZ30 exposure bracket mode. 1EV each above & below what the camera decided was ideal. I've combined them using Photoshop CS2. This in effect gives the best exposure for the sun as well as the foreground trees, either of which was not exposed correctly with the other in the 3 original photos.

The lighter foreground brings out the haze nicely, I think better than if it were darker. This is one of the few "high density range" photos that I've seen that I like...most of them look unnatural to me because they're overdone. You've done a good job on this one.

I know it's not nice to have the fires, but it (and you and your camera) sure makes for a pretty photo. Nice job of the HDR.
