What a fascinating holiday these American children celebrate! I am told that on October 31st children (and quite often adults) dress up in strange costumes and go door to door in their neighborhoods shouting "trick-or-treat." The neighbors respond by giving them candy....lots of candy! I think I could really learn to like this holiday!
It is tradition during this time of the year to visit a pumpkin patch to pick out just the right pumpkin. The pumpkin then begins its transformation into a Jack-o-lantern.
The pumpkin is hollowed out and a face is carved into it. On Halloween night, a candle will be placed inside the Jack-o-lantern illuminating the pumpkin. It is then placed on the doorstep for all the little ghosts and goblins to admire.
