I know, I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet. Well, I bought the Xmas ornaments in the store the other day to see if I can take a few pictures for stock. Today I thought I'd play around with them. While I was doing that, I remembered the technique of sandwiching (so, today I'm technically submitting two photos) which involves taking the same image twice, once in focus, once out of focus. Then, overlay them in Photoshop (in film days, this would be done through multiple exposures on the same spot on the film roll, or sandwiching (hence the name) more than one slide into a single slide frame. You are supposed to have the camera on a tripod (so the images overlap perfectly) and adjust your exposure to account for the multiple layers (overexpose, I believe there's a formula for it). I did this handheld and w/out the overexposure, just to try it out. May be a good one to use for holiday shots to give them a bit of a glow. Need to play more with the opacity (which is at 50% here) and how much to throw the image out of focus.
