This is a part of the ceiling and its supports in our church. The church interior is intended to represent the inside hold of a slave ship where the slaves were held when being transported. The church is named after St.Peter Claver who ministered to slaves when the slave ships came into Columbia. "After the slaves were herded out of the ship like chained animals and shut up in nearby yards to be gazed at by the crowds, Claver plunged in among them with medicines, food, bread, brandy, lemons and tobacco."
