Taking A Nap

Angkor, Cambodia

Outside the Wat (Angkor Wat) is a resting place for people. Caught this lady lying on the stone taking a short break. Fortunately she was smart enough to cover her face with the book. But it was definitely eye catching for her friends seated next to her looking at us trying to shoot her picture. They were so amused that they started to giggle and I can imagine what would have happened if she woke up suddenly and found us snapping her photo! Incidently with this short commotion, we also attracted a few other tourists to peek at the scene. I suppose everybody wants a share of something interesting. Next time try pointing your camera to a wall and pretend to shoot it, I am sure you will find some people walking towards your direction to have a peek!

You have tilted the camera here a bit to disorient the viewer, creating an even stronger message, Tricia. She is not only sleeping with an incongruously placed book over her face, but she is slowly sliding from left to right as if in a bad dream. The hands and bare feet are very expressive here as well. While you abstract her face, you let her speak through her extremities. I normally object to seeing titled images done for the sake of effect, but in this case, the tilt, be it intended or not, is a perfect complement to the idea.

Great image. Had some amazing food at the Wat here near my place. They fed us quite well. My buddy speaks cambodian and managed to get us some authentic food :-) Lovely candid photo! V

WOW! May I call this a sleeper candid! Is that her wig on the ledge? Maybe she is an undercover agent waiting for the next assignment?? A timely shot, Pretty Petals ~V~
