Crepuscular Sunrise leaving Nosy Komba

Indian Ocean

From the Marco Polo on the 2002 Solar Eclipse cruise, early in the morning after leaving Nosy Komba off the coast of Madagascar. There was always a small group of sunrise fanatics on the deck early in the morning to catch the sunrise. These crepuscular rays were caused by clouds below the horizon partially shadowing the sun's rays. Scattered dust in the atmosphere make the rays visible.
