Not a great shot but I was more concerned with getting a photo because I wasn't sure if I was seeing a dog or a coyote. It's been confirmed as a coyote. I've heard many reports that they are often spotted in urban areas, but I had not seen one myself. I'll worry about the feral cats now... and will be wary when I go out in the mornings to feed them. (the feral cats, not the coyotes)
