Hotel New York used to be the headquarters of the Holland America Line. In the 19th and early 20th century the ships with immigrants for the United States departed from here.
Today, the Holland America Line is a cruise company based in the US. The building is a hotel/restaurant now.
At right is the new residential highrise "Montevideo", the highest building in Rotterdam.
