Kids Cowichan - Success By 6

Research shows that the most critical period of a child’s development is from birth to 6. If children get
the physical, social and emotional support they need, they are less likely to drop out of school, abuse
drugs or have health problems, they are more ready to succeed in school and the results can be tremendous.

Understanding the Early Years (UEY) Cowichan is part of a national initiative that helps communities
better understand the needs of young children and families so they can determine the best programs and
services to meet those needs.
