Notes:
* This image was shot with the Sony 717 at ISO100, f/8, 20s
* This crop is at 200%, much, much closer than the normal viewing distance
* Noise reduction used a premade profile for the Sony 717
* After noise reduction, it was sharpened with USM at radius 2.0 and 200% (the original was quite soft)
* After sharpening, it was brightened in Photoshop using Curves
* All of these adjustments enhance the quality of the final image, but bring out noise tremendously

If you notice, NI4 is rather brutal with its noise reduction. Yes, it eliminated nearly all noise, but it also killed very fine details visible in the original (texture in the shadow regions of the boulder). NI5 manages to preserve these details while still reducing the noise uniformly.
