This is my first attempt at prime focus with the Canon Digital Rebel. Although it was a clear evening, light pollution reduces the transparency from my back yard to between 4 and 4.5 within 30 degrees of zenith. Seeing was quite good, the distorted stars are due mostly to tracking error. The camera/scope combination yields an EFL of 3200mm and I'm guiding with a 700mm fl/60mm refractor and 12.5mm eyepiece on an antique spur-gear-driven C8; definitely have to try a focal reducer. This two minute exposure was taken at ISO400 and processed in PhotoShop with dark frame subtraction, levels and mild USM sharpening; and noise reduction in NeatImage.
