This is a CD jewel case viewed through two polarizing filters.
The filters were turned until all light was blocked without the
CD jewel case. When the CD jewel case was placed between the filters
a rainbow of colored light was seen. This is the phenomenon of
birefringence, which creates the colors in these photos.
