A larger leafed relative of G. littoralis. Less hardy, but nonetheless should be growable in the mildest counties. Resembles sea-grape (Coccoloba uvifera, Polygonaceae) seen on white-sand tropical beaches often in association with coconut palms. In the wild it is always an epiphyte, growing in the crown of other trees, very often in association with Asplenium flaccidum, Collospermum hastatum and other epiphytes. The leading shoots grow at an angle to the vertical, rather than fully upright.
