Acacia melanoxylon

Whakatane, New Zealand

Fast growing, hardy, dense foliaged tree. Would make a good broadleafed substitute for leyland cypress. Tolerates light and heavy pruning very well, and can sprout profusely from large diameter stems after cutting back. Foliage on 1-year-old plants is feathery and frost tender. The cladodes are hardier.
