Just found one of these in my driveway in central MI. Very mild temperament. No attempt to bite.

Found one in our yard in Livingston County (Hartland) on Oct 1, 2012. Kids had a great time holding and watching it overnight (in a terrarium) until its release today (Oct 2). About 6-7 inches long and very gentle. No attempted bites!

My son found this up north too, but it seems to be a little aggressive, it rears up and rolls up its lip, any one know if they have biten, we don't hold this one with bare hands, and are they harmful in any way ? thanks

I am pretty sure I saw a Northern Red bellied snake in Livingston County Michigan yesterday. It was about 16 inches long and 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide.Brown bodied with a black head. Don't remember a red belly but I wasn't able to roll it over and did not want to disturb it. Anyone know if they are common in this area?
