A few buds have opened. More, like this one in the foreground are beginning to open. In a week or so this one plant will have over 100 flowers - and I'll be overwhelmed trying to deal with it photographically.
This is one of about 4-5 taken without moving the tripod - just shot with different aperture settings. I call it bracketing depth of field. For all of the 1000's of images like this that I've made, it's still impossible to predict exactly which DOF will look the "best" for a given subject. My solution - bracket the DOF.
