Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park
This is a retake of an image first made last fall. For one of the few times with trying a retake, it came out better than the original (in my opinion). Like shooting fences, scenes through windows are a personal favorite.
It was raining pretty hard so this indoor venue worked well. This is natural light. I also tried natural light with two images - combining one exposed for highlights & one for shadows - but preferred this one. Also, I tried one with flash (several actually until I got one that exposed the outside scene and inside both perfectly) and *still* preferred this one. The mood and atmosphere - gradations from light to dark - were lost (too obvious) in the other two approaches. I'm glad to have tried them all though - lots of ways to make the same image but, in the end, it comes down to personal preference.
Once again, the 2nd PAD of the day. Still catching up from my week in the Smokies with no internet access.
