9/22/06 - Portland Head Light

I stacked two ND filters on the camera and set the aperture to f/22 in order to get the longest exposure possible - 30 seconds as it turned out. What I wanted to accomplish was to have the breaking waves soften into a soft misty foggy look to contrast with the craggy cliffs. Mission accomplished.
This PAD was taken 18 minutes after this one>>> http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/67749448 - and the difference in the amount of available light is significant. Gotta' get there early if you want to see the full range of possibilities. Of course many folks I know will go shoot only when it's a sunny day - DUH - forget about before sunrise in the fog & light rain!

Nikon D70
30s f/22.0 at 18.0mm full exif
