From Skyline Drive overlooking the Shenandoah valley. Circular polarizers are sure helpful with a scene and sky like this one. This was an attempt to demonstrate (to myself) that decent images can be made at midday in the bright sun - just have to make sure that there are no contrasty shadows to be seen.
Probably about 2/3 mile in elevation above the valley. You can just make out the Shenadoah river in the notch between the nearest trees at the center of the image.
