6/29/05 - Big Meadows Lonesome Pine

Three weeks since the last time in the mountains. The mountain laurel bloomed & have just about finished during that time. Seems that I never catch them at their peak. So - back to my favorite tree at Big Meadows. The meadow slopes down to the right from this view, but I leveled it because I get tired of folks telling me that "the horizon isn't level". It's easier to rotate the horizon than it is to argue with folks - but for the record I use a bubble level on my camera just so that I know when the camera is level or not.
7/5/05 - Replaced the original version of this image to correct a color cast problem that was pointed out to me. New workflow step for me - double check the colors to cast using a tool (don't trust the aging eyes).

Ed, you should please Ed...not the rest of us. I love this tree "portrait".
