Having just "hidden" six mallards- too young to fly - in the weeds behind them, these two are standing guard. They did this for about 5-10 minutes until they decided I wasn't a threat, and brought the young ones out to continue on their way.
P.S. The four killdeer babies from the 7/10 PAD http://www.pbase.com/image/31167846 all hatched and are doing well. They scamper along behind mom and dad oblivious to danger - while mom and dad go nuts when anyone is in sight.
