I believe we encountered one of these Peninsula Crowned Snakes while on a walk here in Leon County today. It was probably 12 to 14 inches long.

What are the typical ranges of Coral snake and Canebrake rattlers?

We have two half-grown orange male tom-kittens. Today in north Florida (Crawfordville) they encountered one of these Tantilla relicta. The snake was not afraid of them and the kitties circled him for an hour. I'm pleased this happened so that they will now be careful with all snakes (we have Diamondback and Canebrake Rattlers here, and one sighting of a coral snake in a ditch about 10 years ago.
