Found a baby snake under kiddy pool when we dumped it out. Looks closet to this maybe 5 inches long. It was grayish top half and an orange is red on bottom. Could it of been a baby one one these? We're in northern florida.

The 12" snake I found my cat had brought in was quite dark on the top half and bright orange on the bottom half. I live in Ponce Inlet, Fl (not the Panhandle) and though I turned him loose outside, I don't know what he was! I know most snakes as I'm an 85 yr. old Floridian!

Do not extremely bright colors for a creature often mean that it is poisonous to another creatures that may try to eat it? Is that the case for this one?
