Not, really. It just took me a while to figure out what I was looking at.
The "Smoke" was not the ethereal seed-pods of the well known prairie flower, but rather
the out of focus grey shingled wall of a house 100 yards beyond the out of focus evergreens that framed it!
The shallow depth of field of this otherwise stunning 400mm lens will bite you at times...
