Turn of the 20th century pipe organs, especially large ones, used electro-pneumatic action
where electrical signals were amplified by having a small solenoid valve energize air operated
bellows, or sometimes direct electric action where large solenoid valves admitted air to the
pipes on signal. Either used low voltage direct current and involved lots of wire and connections.
