As Sigmund Freud alledgedly once said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." Sometimes a brightly dressed girl walking down the street is just a wonderful picture of a brightly dressed girl walking down the street, urban decay and predatory behavior aside.

This is the same girl that had a nuclear meltdown? (I read your comment to jypsee) Hard to believe. But then again, my granddaughter does practice meltdown. Maybe it is in the nature of little girls... I wonder, hmmmm...
Aloha

Nice perspective. I like the tones of grey with the vivid colours of girl. Voted.

Purpod, Adal and Mary, thanks for your observations on the shot - I have to confirm that this is a normal view in a Los Angeles suburb - even the nicest neighborhoods are steps away from urban pollution. This road is down the street from where we live. Many shots in my graffiti gallery are taken from under the bridge in this shot. I thought my daughter made for an interesting contrast to/disruption of the lines, shadows and of the angles. :)

Looks (sadly) normal for big city US suburbs ..... we got the decay and degradation and none of the patina...

Not the only, Purpod. Although she seems well protected :-)

You know, this almost seems sad to me... a cute, brightly dressed lil' girl going for a stroll on a sidewalk with trash that has an enormous guardrail on one side, and a wire fence taller than she is on the other ~ Am I the only one who sees this as sad?
Great shot, none-the-less.

Almost black and white; hmmmm.... a candidate for selective color??
