Lookin' Good

It has been about 3 weeks since Zoey had her surgery. The hair is growing back in around her face and on her belly. In the last week she also has been turning colors like the leaves around here. Some new friends, Lisa & Tiki, tell us she may possibly be a snowshoe breed. I am still trying to figure out what point color group she would be considered.

She has a pretty good life. All the food she wants, warm places to sleep and a couple of buddies to hang with. She is a lap cat and a snuggler, which is nice now that the cold northeast wisconsin weather is kicking in. And she now has the run of the house at all times. She doesn't get her own private suite at night, which means we may have to invest in a bigger bed. 3 critters and 2 people all in a full size bed is a bit crowded. But I wouldn't trade her for anything. We can't imagine life without her.

We plan to still keep posting pictures of her so we hope you will come back and visit us from time to time. Thanks again for sharing your stories with us. Keep them coming. I know there are lots of Zoeys out there and not all of them are so lucky. I would have to say in this case though, it was me that was the lucky one.

She is such a beautiful girl - thank you for continuing to update info on her.
Jo 16-Nov-2007 14:40
Thank goodness you happened along when you did. You, your husband and friends have done a wonderful job with Zoey and she looks nothing like the little waif you rescued not all that long ago. If their were more people like you in this world it would be a much nicer place to live in. Jo

Lookin' good is an understatement. She looks GORGEOUS!

Such a pretty cat. How graceful it is to take care of her. I check back often to see how Zoey is doing. My grandpa once had a one eyed cat, just showed up on the farm in the middle of rural America. He was a really cool cat too.

Living out in the country, we rescue animals that are dropped off and make sure they find new homes - sometimes with us! Your story touched me so much, God was certainly watching out for you and Zoey on the day that you found her. Thanks from our family (two people, four cats, two dogs) to yours for being such wonderful people!
Rob, England 14-Nov-2007 10:31
What a wonderful story - we need MORE people like you! And Zoey is a beaut!
Don 12-Nov-2007 20:43
Man she is a cutie! I am glad there are people in this world who do this. We rescued a Siamese cat 2 yrs ago who was battling with ringworm and today she is quite the little charmer! It is amazing what a little love, a warm home, and some tenacity can do for a little cat! I wouldn't trade her for the world as I am sure you wouldn't trade Zoey either. Thanks for a great photo story!

The happy ending all abandoned mutts & kittens should have, just like Zoey.
Do continue to update on Zoey... Would love to see how much Zoey has grown! :)

Zoey looks great! Ya'll have done a great job with her! Yes, cats can do just fine with only 1 eye! I had a cat who lived for 14 years. He lived with only 1 eye for 10 of those years. We not exactly sure what happened, but we assumed that it was a cat fight. He came home one day and his right eye was covered in a puss or something. My dad took him to the vet and wouldn't let me come because he was afraid that the vet would put J.D. to sleep. He didn't. He took the eye out and sewed it shut. Every time I would tell people about my one-eyed kitty, they would think "EEWW, gross" But it always looked like he was winking at you. My parents were afraid that he would get run over, but he didn't. He was really old and arthritic and 14 years old. My brother and sister-in-law came to visit and my brother told me that J.D. could barely stand or walk. So they took him to the vet and found out that he had pneumonia. So they agreed to put him to sleep. Even about 2 weeks before he died, He was catching about 6- 12 rats a day and bringing them to my parents front door. I had been married a little over a year at that time and lived an hour away. My mom says that he even killed a jack rabbit once a couple of years before he died. He was a very tough, but very sweet kitty!!! I still miss him alot!!! He looked like one of your cats, Ozzy I think. He didn't have the white paws. Those are my favorite kitties and I know have my 3rd cat that looks like that. Anyway, I know that Zoey will be just fine and can live a very healthy and happy life, even with just one eye! I'm sure that you are amazed at how well she is doing, but I'm not surrpised. She will continue to do better!

You are doing a wonderful thing for Zoey. May God bless you and yours. My Human is writing this note for me but I want you to know that I sit in her lap each morning as she clicks in on the Animal Rescue Site. Please give Zoey an extra pat from me and let her know that we remember all of you in our prayers. Your friend King Norman Broome Fleming

I found your site from a link on Robyn's (Bitchypoo) blog. I am a cat lover of the first order and your photo story really touched me. I am also a fellow Wisconsinite (Milwaukee area). So glad Zoey was found by a caring person who would go to such lengths to turn her life around.

God bless you and this sweet little kitty. She has turned into a beautiful little girl with a permanent wink! I love the precious diamond marking on her nose. So cute!!

I'm adding your blog to my favorites right now so I can check back and see how you are all doing :)

What a sweetheart...
This story is truly heartwarming. I think Zoey has a lot of admirers.
Compare this shot to when you first found her- amazing.
And what a tough cat with a will to survive....

Cats always look like they are smiling but this one has an especially big smile. She looks very happy and content. Thanks again for sharing this heart warming story.

It's great that you went through all the work and expense to bring Zoey back to health. I'm sure her life will be just as happy as if she had both eyes. I had a cat who, due to being wrapped in the umbilical cord, only had two good legs. Later in her life she had a severe bacterial infection that took one of her eyes. She was not a pretty sight, but she was a happy little thing until the days she died at 17 years old. She even managed to hunt and successfully catch birds!
Good luck with Zoey. It looks like she will be a good companion.

Oh my gosh...this is the most adorable pose ever!!! I can almost hear her purring, and one can easily see the love and contentment she feels. Please do keep us up-to-date on her continued growth and progress.
