Franken Kitty

Oh boy! Zoey is really hyper today. Doing all the things she's not supposed to. Running around like she is crazy, running up and down the stairs. Jumping up on to and off of things. It looked like the swelling around her eye went down, then she was tearing around like mad and I think she bumped it because she has one huge goose egg on the incision. And it is bleeding. She is getting blood all over everything, as you can even see on the blanket she is on. You can also see her belly incision here, which she keeps licking, another thing she is not supposed to do. I'm glad she is feeling good, but wow, I never thought she would be like this!! I gave her some pain meds and it almost seemed like it made her more hyper. I am not sure if I will give her any tonight. I really don't think she is bothered by the discomfort she has to be having. Usually she is a total lap cat, well she wants none of that! Maybe she is mad at me for putting her through what she went though yesterday.

Gonna be a long 12 days until the next vet appointment!

I love how vets tell us to "keep them quiet" - I've never figured a way to do it. There's no room in most homes that doesn't have someplace to jump up high, even the bathroom. I'm glad the stitches are out and all went well.

Hang in there if you can because it will be worth it in the end. My cat Suki went through some minor surgeries and broke the record for wearing the collar! It was a nightmare because she was high spirited and difficult to pill. She is older now, hates the vet but still loves me after all I put her through! Unconditional love. Julie Horton

This little puss has now become internationally known and loved! My son (who is a big softie at heart) sent me the link to Zoey and I have passed this around other friends. I have two ginger lads...didn't ever want ginger - or lads, but when I went to have a look with a view to buy one, they were in a cardboard box (at about 6 weeks old) huddled together in fear so you didn't know which leg belonged to which cat - and very, very ill. The owner said one was simply the runt of the litter and would probably go in the bin as no-one would want him. At that I said I would take them both. Like Zoey (although maybe not so visibly bad) it was touch and go for a week or so, but they pulled through and now have been with me for over 12 years.
You must feel so rewarded as you have earned the trust of a kitten. You are a true star - and so is Zoey. No-one can describe the awful up-one-day and down-the-next feelings when a little life is in your care, but be sure that we who have contributed here, absolutely know what this is like, and understand what you are going through, both of you. WE are all rooting for you and send our love and thoughts.

Zoey is one tough little critter! It's so great to see how well she is. I hope she has a speedy recovery from her surgeries. She has such a sweet face. Thanks for the updates!

Hooray for Zoey! She must be feeling good without the infection in her eye to bother her anymore. She looks so alert and full of mischief. I think she wanted comfort when she was feeling pain from the infection but now she feels better and wants to play. Give her a little ruffle behind the ears for me.
Thank you for being so kind to her and for sharing her story. I will never forget it.

Please put her in a crate, and get her an Elizabethan collar until she's better! She's doing great, but she really could hurt herself if she's running around. My dog burst some stitches in her spay.

Thank you for updating! She's so precious and you are a Godsend

You rock my socks! I hope everything is going well with Zoey. She's a true beauty. Everyone gets all weird around 'defective' animals, but they need our love and compassion the most. Thanks for everything you've done for Zoey. I'm glad that there are people like you in the world.
