Precursor to the horse, Protorohippus venticolus, from the Fossil Butte Member of the Eocene, Green River Formation, WY

This is actually a replica of the original which is sequestered for safe keeping. The original is valued at an estimated $1,200,000. This is the most complete skeleton known to exist. This "horse" stood twenty inches high at the shoulder and was about two feet long. Protorohippus means "dawn horse."
