At the Lefke gate, this is the wall which has some "spolia" (remains of older buildings, recycled). This is an extreme case: a whole pillar sticking out. The wall may have been thicker here than it now is.
The gate dates from the first century AD, and an inscription thanks Hadrian for having it restored after an 120 AD earthquake.
