This is the new version of a monument to a soldier who - during the Dardanelles campaign in the first World War - carried grenades weighing 276 kilo's to a huge gun when the winch to hoist them broke down. In another gallery I have a picture of the gun (you can return here). I found an interesting story that I could not check. It does not debunk the feat, but puts a funny twist to it, at Gallipoli Gossip. The earlier version is in previous pictures in this gallery.
