Diyarbakir Behram Pasha Mosque 2929

On the picture: The porch on the north side of the mosque is 36,70 m wide; it consists of two sections: an outer section on the same level as the courtyard, and a smaller elevated section, which is the ‘son cemaat yeri’ (= ‘area for those who came late’) where worshippers who reached the mosque late or at the last moment, will gather and fulfil their prayer duty. Note the two small ‘mihrabs’ (prayer niches); during common prayers, these secondary mihrabs help the people here feel connected with the worshippers inside.
