Samsun Saat Kulesi

view map

A clock tower was what every city seemed to have wanted in the nineteenth or early twentieth century and yes, Samsun has one. A bit small, but at least it is not in the middle of a road like in Adana. This part of town is more pleasant then much of the city.

was in Samsun with USAF in 1960-61. I am so pleased to see your photos that show the beauty of Samsun. Much has changed and much of it very attractive. It was a small town when I was there = now a city. Thank you!

I enjoy all your pictures while internet searching locations around Turkey. My trip in September is by ship. Why would a big cruise ship stop at Samsun for 9 hours? Seems to me a quick visit to Amasya would be far more interesting and historical. Is that possible for a person to do?
A Canon digital camera (which I've also been researching) makes 2 models with LCD that swivel, and would be good for your ceiling shots, I think.
