Amasya Beyazit II a view from rock

view map

The Beyazit II mosque is from 1486. From this view one can clearly see that, as with many mosques, it is the centre of a series of other buildings, such as a soup kitchen, a koran school, a hospital. One of the largest I know is in Istanbul at the Fatih Mosque and the Süleyman complex is pretty big too. Nice about this one is its size: just right. The picture was taken from a rock on the other side of the river, on top it the Kale or fortress, in the rock's side are dug the grave monuments of Pontic kings.
