The name of the woman to the right is Salome (maybe Greek from sjalom). She is mentioned in apocryphal text (the infancy gospel attached to the name of James the Just, the Protevangelion of James, ch. XIV: ) as being called in by the midwife after that woman has seen a virgin birth (a miracle). The midwife is to the left.
