Koan amphora’s. I understand this means: from Kos. The main characteristic of these amphora’s is their double handles. These were often imitated during the Roman period. Some of the amphora’s from Kos are recognizable by their seals which show a crab, the symbol of the city. The wine produced in Kos was preferred by many because it was cheap.
