Views from the edge the Süleymaniye gardens, looking towards the Bosporus and Golden Horn, in the foreground the Third and Fourth Medreses are almost finished after years of restoration. Stroilling through Istanbul, a guidebook calls them “by far the most elaborate, original and picturesque of all Sinan’s medreses.” And “As a display of virtuosity, nay of bravura, these medreses surely have no rival”. That has to do with the fact they were built along the flank of a steep hill. I cannot wait to visit them once finished.
