In the Üsküplü Caddesi this is one of a number of mausoleums. This is the Şeyh Ahmet Buhara türbesi. His Excellency Seyyid Emir Ahmet Buhari was an eminent Islamic scholar and a descendant of Muhammad. He lived in the late 15th and early 16th century, came from the city of Bukhara in today’s Uzbekistan, introduced a dervish sect with roots in the spiritual side of Islam and the sultan had a lodge built to house the increasing numbers of followers. Burial places of leaders of the sect are next to it. Pictures of his tekke are in my gallery of mosques.
