On the picture: The marble central piece of the fountain, which occupies the middle of the prayer hall’s central area. Unlike the fountain inside the Ulu Cami, this is no ‘şadırvan’ (fountain for ritual ablutions) but a ‘havuz’ (water basin) with a decorative and restful purpose, taking advantage of the healing effect of water on the human mind, both visual and auditive.
