On the picture: Close-up of the central part of the mihrab (prayer niche, which indicates the direction of Mecca). The niche is completely executed in glazed tiles. The calligraphic work in the centre of the picture dates from the 19th century, and has been inserted during the extensive renovation of the mosque after the 1855 Bursa earthquake.
