Ankara 08092012_3472.jpg

The inscription to the right of the queen (or a wet nurse) carrying the king’s youngest son.
Detail of the large ‘relief of Yariri/Araras and Kamani’, that was located at the front face of the Royal Buttress of
Carchemish/Karkamış (on the Euphrates River and on the Turkish-Syrian border, c. 25 km south of Birecik).
This text, written in Luwian hieroglyphs, says: “ this (is) Tuwarsais, the desired (?) (one) of the ruler, the prince proclaimed for pre-eminence”. Neo-Hittite sculpture, basalt, c. 8th century BC.
