Limestone orthostats from the ‘Long Wall’ in Carchemish/Karkamış (on the Euphrates River and on the Turkish-Syrian border, c. 25 km south of Birecik).
In the center: A seated female figure and accross her: a winged goddess holding (offering) her breasts.
In the left upper corner: a dedication to the wife of king Suhi II, written in Luwian hieroglyphs.
Neo-Hittite sculpture influenced by Aramean and Assyrian styles, c. 10th century.
Left and right: The goddess Kubaba, standing. Neo-Hittite sculpture, traditional style, c. 8th century.
