Bilingual inscription from Caunos. It was found in three fragments in 1996, the discovery causing great excitement. It was in two languages, Carian above and Greek below. The Carian language belongs to an ancient Anatolian family of languages, and deciphering it was hard. The current text contains an almost complete Carian or more correctly Caunian text. It is concerns with an honour given to two Athenians by a degree of the people of Caunos.
