Pied Wagtail (Motacilla alba yarrellii)

Piana Fiorentina, Firenze - Tuscany, Italy

This is a heavy crop (80%) of a picture posted only to prove with documents the breeding of this ssp of Motacilla alba in Italy. Since no other Pied Wagtail is present around the site, very probably it is a White Wagtail X Pied Wagtail breeding pair.

A very good image despite the crop & much better than my poor attempts! Your bird has much whiter Gt. coverts than the yarellii I usually see here in Scotland but they can vary quite a bit. See: (http://www.pbase.com/rainbirder/image/90046184 ).
