We went spotlighting across the Marina Plain in the particular hope of finding the rare Grass Owl, as this is a known location for that species. This individual flew up from the ground, and its large feet, bare legs and richly coloured back gave us momentary, false hope ... but we were still able to enjoy this Barn Owl, which is probably a female. We also saw Barking Owls and, in the headlights on the drive back to camp, lots of Spotted Nightjars.
