Dr. John G. DuPuis Elementary School was located at W. 59th Place and W. 12th Avenue (Ludlam Road), in the northwest corner of property donated to Dade County Public Schools. The school is named after pioneer doctor and dairyman Dr. John G. DuPuis who was a physician who established the White Belt Dairy in the Lemon City section of Miami in 1898. I presume that the DuPuis family donated the land for the elementary school and the junior high school, or other land for other schools, and that is why the elementary was named after him. Palm Springs Junior High was on the opposite side of the property in the southeast corner. It opened one week late in September 1957 and for a couple of years W. 12th Avenue was barely a two-lane dirt road on the west side of the school.

Dotti and Bobbi were younger sisters of Jake Louden who was my age and the Louden family lived down the street from me on W. 9th lane from the summer of 1957 when the homes were built until the 80's.
